EAST PROVIDENCE CENTRAL LITTLE LEAGUE

2025 League Eligibility Update
(Regulation II)

Little League has updated their league eligibility rules for the 2025 spring season.  The rules allow freedom of choice for players with a league age of 4-7 to play outside of their home league without a waiver process.  There are also special rules regarding siblings of these players.  We have summarized the rules below for easy and quick reference. However always consult the official Little League rules which can be found here: https://www.littleleague.org/playing-rules/2025-regulation-2-update/

For Players Aged 4-7:

  • Freedom to Choose: Kids aged 4-7 can join any Little League® program they want, no matter where they live or go to school.
  • Staying Eligible: Once they join a league, they must stick with it continuously to remain eligible for tournaments and other events throughout their Little League career.

Special Rule for older Siblings of League Aged 4-7 Players (Ages 8-16):

  • Siblings in the League: A child can play in the same league as their sibling if:
    • The sibling is 7 or younger and already in the league, or
    • The sibling has been in the league since they were 7, without taking a break.

For Players Aged 8-16:

  • Eligibility Rules: These players must follow rules based on:
    • Where they live,
    • Where they go to school, or
    • If they have been in the league continuously since age 7.
  • Waivers for Exceptions:
    • If a player doesn’t meet the residency or school requirements, they need a special permission (waiver) from Little League’s Charter Committee to play.
    • Players already in a league but wanting to switch must also apply for a waiver.
